The Only Single Mindset to Kill Any Presentations

At the end of 2020, I attended the International Conferences on Agriculture, Biodiversity, and Food Security and Health by Universitas Pattimura (12/10). The conference was held through zoom meeting conferences. I brought my research presentation, then fortunately I won the Best Presenter award.

I have never expected to win because I was a beginner at presenting a paper at international conferences. The competitors were quite expert. Also, some of them are foreigners. Besides that,  It looked very hard for me, but I remember what my professor, Dr. Ir. Irham, M.Sc, said:

“Perfection is impossible; just strive to do your best”

In the past, he told me the story about his experience presenting for the first time. He felt insecure and super nervous before the event started. But, he can solve that problem with the mindset which stated that we must do the best we can do. His story was inspiring and I’ve copied the mindset.

With that mindset, I consciously research deeply a week before the event started. I found a great article about how to kill any presentation (click here). I created slide interferences with the best design tool, such as Corel Draw. Besides that I was also doing:

  • Framing the story: make an outline paper and do research more
  • Planning my delivery: make a script paper, doing rehearsal, and making a video presentation
  • Planning and checking the multimedia

However, I recognize that the single most important thing to remember is that there is no one good way to do a presentation. So do not on any account try to emulate every piece of advice I’ve offered here. Play to your strengths and give a talk that is truly authentic to you. Always do your best!

This is the title of my research. The conferences have an opportunity to publish in Scopus indexed proceedings
This is the main problem of my research
And this is my research common thread

FI: my research has been publishing in the IOP Proceedings Series. So wait for the updates!
